International Medical Missions
In 2004, DataNet Solutions exhibited for the first time at the Global Health Missions Conference in Louisville, KY. DataNet's target market was the mission volunteers attending the conference, who we felt could assist their uninsured patients in obtaining free medicines using our MedServices Patient Assistance Program.
To our surprise, the international mission organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGO's) exhibiting at the conference flocked to the DataNet booth to discuss their own patient data collection needs at their facilities around the world.
Data Is Power
When it's pouring down rain and you're standing in the jungle ankle deep in mud, it may seem that the last thing you have time for is "counting" what you do. Data can be a powerful tool, however, not only in improving patient care, but in spotting trends, planning services, and most of all telling your important story when raising funds and recruiting volunteers.
International Sites
The flexibility of DataNet Solutions' MedServices software is perfect for the mission field. Organizations find that it meets their needs whether they are running several hospitals or visiting isolated villages in the jungle. Since information in MedServices can be "synched", it allows for a variety of ways to collect and correlate data, anywhere in the world!
Special Features
MedServices is built in modules, allowing programs to build a software package that meets their particular needs. It also has a number of special features that can be used in creative ways in the mission field.
With MedServices' Image Module, NGO's and mission teams can use inexpensive digital or video cameras to take pictures of patients and place them on the patient's record, aiding with the difficult identification problems faced in the field. Pictures can also be taken of injuries, surgeries, etc. to aid patient care when a variety of volunteer practitioners are involved.
By adding a simple portable printer, a copy of the patient care, immunization record, or other services can be generated and provided to the patient or village leader, helping to coordinate care and eliminate such things as duplicated immunizations or other services.
Training
Training can be an issue when using mission teams from a variety of locations. That's not a problem for organizations using DataNet Solutions' MedServices software. Volunteer team members can go on line and download a working version of the software at any time, allowing them to familiarize themselves with its easy operation and maneuverability before traveling to the mission location. Added to that are DataNet Solutions Training CD's which provide step-by-step instructions on all aspects of the program.
